Stanovanje u post-socijalističkom kontekstu /Housing in post-socialist context – EAC Split, 9.5.2024 [preluare]

The panel ‘Housing in post-socialist context’ on housing policies in Croatia and wider region of Southeastern and Central Europe was held on 9.5.2024. at Cinema Zlatna vrata in Split as an opening event of the programme ‘Housing – a right or a privilege?’ on occasion of international meeting of European Action Coalition for Right to Housing and to the City from 9. to 13. May 2024 in Split, Croatia.

The panel addresses regionally characteristic alternatives to the nowadays paradigm of housing as a commodity: production of socially-owned housing – a model of social housing in Yugoslavia, and mass production of public housing in state socialist Romania, as examples of urban investment not serving the capital accumulation but citizens and the public good with a specific look at the financial, political and spatial aspects of housing models and urban planning in post-war Split.
